Welcome to the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center! A lot has happened since we announced the inaugural 2009-2010 Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts Artist Series. On behalf of the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, we thank Fairfield voters for approving the City of Fairfield's purchase of the Center. As I said on election night, we regard the confidence this community's residents have instilled in the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center with great humility and a profound sense of anticipation and exuberance. The anticipation in the Center's future continues with our second Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts Artist Series season.
Coming off the very successful inaugural Artist Series, which included Second City, Winter Dance Party, and In the Mood, to name a few, we have the momentum and confidence to take it up a notch. The Fairfield Arts and Convention Center has begun to carve out its niche. We have experienced how this Center can provide many opportunities and be the place that Fairfield residents and visitors alike come for rich and diverse entertainment. We have shared in many experiences; been impressed and inspired, all in fellowship of great performances.
I am confident this Artist Series will enrich your life and inspire your soul. The Center is poised for this season's performances, again bringing national touring performances, kicking off with Water Coolers and featuring the variety of acts such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Kenyan Safari Acrobats, Forever Plaid, Street Beat, Sweet Dreams: A Patsy Cline Tribute, Organist Christopher Houlihan on the Barhydt Organ, Popovich's Comedy Pet Theater, Spencers: Theater of Illusion, Bus Stop, Craicmore, Ricky Nelson Remembered, Soprano Deborah Raymond and Divapalooza. We have also added special attractions to the season with Orchestra Iowa and a Neil Diamond Tribute. Simply put, the Artist Series features the best of theater, music, comedy and something special for the entire family.
I am certain you'll agree, the patrons of the Arts and Convention Center enjoy the varied and exciting season with this Artist Series. This, in addition to Way Off Broadway, Saturday Night at the Sondheim, and countless other great community oriented performances, the Center will continue the dedication to excellence that has propelled the Center into an exciting and attainable venue for all audiences in Southeast Iowa.
As our efforts continue with programming, marketing and development, I ask you consider one additional thing. Try a few experiences you have not had before. Celebrate creativity and the live performing arts that Fairfield has embraced for some time. Whether you try a show you never thought you would see or come to one of our events in the Expo Hall, get closer to the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. I think you will find yourself in good company and leaving impressed.
Thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing you at the Center!
