WOB brings Sondheim back to the Sondheim. Into the Woods won the Tony for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book and WOB is delighted to be creating this Fairy Tale world of Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella as well as many surprises. Sondheim and playwright James Lapine go right past the traditional happy endings and explore what happens when you actually get your wish.
Into the Woods is filled with unexpected twists and dazzling insights, with subjects as diverse as the promise of perfect love, the foolhardiness of questing for material goods and the complication of relationships between parents and children. Filled with tenderness and laughter Sondheim and Lapine lead us through a fairy tale maze that reveals the consequences of our actions, the importance of tolerance and the power of community and shared sacrifice.
